Evie (4), David and Cillian (9) Buckley from Passage West at the Marina Market as Santa Claus arrives to take up residence. Next week, the market will attempt to break a World Recrod.

It’s time to break out the festive jumpers as one of Cork’s favourite hangout spots attempts to break a World Record.

The Marina Market in Cork is aiming to smash the World Record for the most amount of Christmas jumpers worn in one place at one time.

The market is urging the people of Cork to mark the date in their diaries, get their most festive geansaí out of storage, and take part in what will hopefully be a special day.

The current World Record is 3,473 people and was achieved back in 2015 but on Sunday, December 17, the Marina Market will be hoping to beat it.

The aim is to turn the market into a sea of festive knitwear and those planning on taking part must register their attendance.

The CUH Charity and S.H.A.R.E Cork will both be there on the day collecting donations and there will also be live entertainment and plenty of festive cheer to get you in the Christmas spirit.

The event kicks off at 12.30pm until 2pm.
