An Bord Pleanála has granted Aldi Ireland full planning permission for a new €11m store in Kinsale.
The new development, which will have a gross floor area spanning 1,819 sq m, will see the creation of 30 new permanent jobs in the town, with up to 50 jobs supported during the construction period, the retailer said.
Cork County Council had previously granted local authority planning permission for the project, which includes 102 car parking spaces, 24 bike spaces and four electric vehicle charging points.
The development, located at New Road & Barrack Street, in Kinsale, will also include a single-storey retail building with a gross retail area of 226 sq m, comprising a health food shop and a youth café, with six car parking spaces, including a disabled space, and four covered cycle spaces.
The new store will also have a green roof, rooftop solar panels and rooftop plant.
Commenting on the decision, Colin Breslin, Managing Director of Buying & Services, ALDI Ireland said: “We are delighted that An Bord Pleanála have given the green light for the development of our new store in Kinsale. We look forward to developing and opening the store."
The discount retailer currently employs 4,650 people across 161 Irish stores. In addition to its Kinsale development, Aldi has also invested €73m in 11 new stores in Dublin, resulting in the creation of 350 new full-time jobs over the next five years, the company said.
