A well-known Cork City school has sought permission for a new extension.
An application has been lodged with Cork City Council for the works by Scoil Mhuire Company Limited by Guarantee.
The plan includes the construction of a new part two-storey and part five-storey secondary school hall building, including terraces on its third floor.
It includes a multi-purpose hall, two music and drama rooms, three multi-purpose teaching rooms, a fitness suite, and associated facilities.
It also includes elevational alterations and the part demolition of Maryboro Lodge, a change-of-use to school use, and the addition of a connection to the new building.
The plan further includes a new pocket park, changes to parking spaces, and landscaping works.
All works, if approved, will take place at Scoil Mhuire on Sidney Hill and Wellington Road in Cork City.
Separately, plans for a large housing development in Bishopstown have been unveiled.
Dwellings Developments Bishopstown Limited has lodged a planning application for 164 new homes.
Cork City Council is assessing the plan, which would be developed on lands at Ardarostig and Ballinaspig Mór on Waterfall Road if approved.
The development includes 64 three-bed semi-detached and terraced dwellings, 54 apartments in two blocks, and 46 duplex units.
The proposals also include new vehicular and cycle routes, traffic calming measures, and a creche, outdoor amenities and various landscaping measures.
The full plan can be viewed at waterfallroadlrd.com.
Elsewhere in the city, the Diocese of Cork and Ross has been granted permission to extend the parochial hall in Gurranabraher.
Located on Knockfree Avenue, the hall will be extended to include an additional floor area for meeting rooms.
The plans have been approved by Cork City Council.
