A new food court could be developed in Cork city centre under new plans.

Holren Properties Ahall Limited has lodged a planning application with Cork City Council seeking to revamp part of Paul Street Shopping Centre.

The plan seeks permission for a change-of-use of the existing first-floor retail area for future use as a food court.

Previously occupied by the Other Realms gaming store, the space has been vacant since March 2023.

The proposal seeks permission to create a food court, including four new food kiosks and kitchen areas, a moveable food kiosk, staff toilets, and dining areas.

The development would also see the removal of an existing glazed balcony wall and a replacement with a partition and toughened glass.

Planners at Cork City Hall will issue a decision on the plan by early November.

Cork Airport

Meanwhile, the operator of Cork Airport has lodged a planning application for development at the facility.

Daa PLC has submitted an application to build four 53,000-litre aviation fuel tanks, new fuel lines, accommodation containers and connections to the existing network.

All works will take place on lands to the southeast of the old terminal building at Cork Airport.
