The fertile lands in East Cork have always been highly sought after – as much for their quality as for their proximity to Cork city and important market towns such as Midleton and Fermoy.

In today’s vibrant land market, that demand is even more pronounced, so there should be a good level of interest in a 30-acre land parcel that’s new to the market, close to the East Cork village of Cloyne.

The property is in the townland of Ballymacotter and is for sale with Midleton-based auctioneers Hegarty Properties.

“It’s a fine parcel of land,” says Adrianna Hegarty. “And it has very good road frontage.”

The holding is currently let and has been in tillage for some years, a fact that clearly attests to its quality of soil.

“In the immediate area, you have barley and wheat crops,” says Adrianna. “There was a bean crop on it this year, which has been harvested.

“There’s been very good interest in it,” adds Adrianna, “from investors as well as farmers… It’s a very nice sized parcel of land that will suit any kind of farmer and it’s close to the villages of Churchtown and Cloyne, where there’s very good coastal land.”

The agents are quoting an AMV of €450,000 (€15,000/acre) – a figure that could well prove to be a conservative one.
