Glasheen produced a brilliant performance to land the Urban GF2 Cup at the expense of a spirited St Brendans side in the opening game on day two of the Sciath na Scol on Wednesday.
Brendans, to their credit, battled until the very end and they got their reward in the second period as Helena Moloney and Lily Rose O’Sullivan claimed an excellent point apiece before Moloney drilled a superb strike into the far bottom left corner.
But in the end, those scores proved to be consolations as Glasheen deservedly emerged victorious at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh.
Maya Abbas and Maisie O’Neill impressed with a goal and a point from play each, but the star of the show was Aisling Coffey, who grabbed 1-2 and caused havoc throughout to lead her side to glory.

North Mon denied Glasheen a cup double as they lifted the Urban F1 trophy with forward Cian Wolfe and defender Jermaine Odabi playing starring roles.
Wolfe would end the game with an impressive tally of 2-4 while Odabi inspired the defence to keep Glasheen’s score down, although their rearguard would be breached when Levi Smith found the net before half time.
While North Mon had Ronaldo and Messi Rostas in their line-up, it was their teammate Caine Wolfe who produced the moment that the brothers’ namesake would’ve been proud of in the 11th minute.
The talented number 19 already had a point to his name before he skipped past his opponent and showed his soccer skills by curling an unstoppable effort into the far bottom right corner.
He raised another green flag moments later when blasting home a loose ball to give his side a lead they wouldn’t relinquish, despite the best efforts of Glasheen.

Coachford edged what was undoubtedly the match of the day as they claimed a narrow one-point victory over Kilmurry to lift the DGF7 title.
Despite a sensational performance from Amy Collier, who scored 2-2, and three great points from Laura Murphy, Kilmurry just missed out on the silverware.
Clara Murphy’s goal and three cooly converted frees had helped Coachford into a four-point lead twice in the contest but in the end, they found themselves hanging on following Collier’s second green flag in the last minute.

Kilmurry avenged the loss suffered by their girls’ team moments earlier as they beat an excellent Berrings team in the DF7 decider.
James Daly was unfortunate to find himself on the losing side as he kicked seven superb points (including two frees) to keep his school in contention until the final minutes.
But in the end Kilmurry were deserving winners as a brace from goals from Tiernan Knight Desmond in the second half, which followed three points from Eddie Flynn and neat strikes to the net from Rua Drinan and captain Cormac O’Leary ensured he climbed the steps in the South Stand to lift the cup for his team.
T Knight Desmond (2-1, 1f), R Drinan and C O’Leary (1-0 each), E Flynn (0-3), L Kearney Burke (0-1, 1f).
