Desire Lines: Joanne McNally is Preoccupied with the must-have mála

Joanne McNally’s Anxious Preoccupied bags have quickly become a must-have item for many Irish women.

The bag

Joanne McNally’s Anxious Preoccupied bags have quickly become a must-have item for many Irish women.

The OG oversized bold metallic bags are iconic, but for those of us looking for something a bit more low-key for our everyday commute, her latest edit sees black and white variations added to the mix (We’ll be asking Santa for the black oversized version with clutch, €165).

There are also new midsize versions priced at €120. The first batch are already sold-out, but pre order is available for delivery later in November.

The silk dress

For lessons in cool, Sienna Miller is still our go-to. The actress and style icon has just launched her second collaboration with Marks & Spencer, and it doesn’t disappoint.

From lace dresses and velvet blazers to satin heels and faux fur coats, it’s your fool-proof guide to sleek and elevated fashion inspired by Sienna’s personal style.

The collection is available to shop in the Grafton Street and Dundrum Town Centre stores, with click and collect available nationwide. We love this Strappy Pure Silk Maxi Dress, €135.

The Christmas window

You know the countdown is really on when the Brown Thomas Christmas windows are unveiled.

On Tuesday evening, the blacked-out frontage was torn down to showcase the 12 days of Christmas themed display.

Next up are the Christmas lights in Cork city, launched with an inaugural parade on Friday night. Let the fun begin.

The city fun

Running from November through to January, Winter in Dublin offers an exciting programme of events to capture and celebrate the capital’s energy and charm during the colder months.

Highlights from a packed itinerary include special Cathedral Night Tours at St Patrick’s Cathedral.

‘The Dead” by James Joyce at MoLI, an immersive theatre experience for small audience groups (Nov 22 – Jan 12) and Twilight Tales & Tasting, an after dark distillery experience at Pearse Lyons, (Nov 14 – Dec 23).

On New Year’s Eve, the NYF (New Year’s Festival) Dublin Countdown Concert with Cian Ducrot takes place in Dublin Castle with special guests Aby Coulibaly, Kabin Crew & Lisdoonvarna Crew and Saibh Skelly.

Or head to Howth or Dun Laoghaire to enjoy NYF’s firework spectacular.

The party pal

New hangover defence system Tipple has been designed to minimise hangovers and leave you feeling fresh the next day.

Taken while you’re enjoying your drinks, the Irish founders say that the science-led and plant-based formula breaks down alcohol as you drink, preventing the build-up of acetaldehyde, the main cause of hangovers.

Individual sachets contain two capsules which you take with water when you’re out partying.

Tipple claims to replenish vital nutrients via essential vitamins, minerals, probiotics, and electrolytes that promote gut health and prevent dehydration.

We haven’t tried them yet, but are certainly curious.
