Man, 40s, arrested in connection with fatal hit and run in Kildare

A man has been arrested after a teenager was killed in a hit-and-run in Co Kildare in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The collision, involving a vehicle and pedestrian, occurred on the R403 in Blackwood near Robertstown at approximately 12.30am. The vehicle involved failed to remain at the scene.
The 16-year-old pedestrian was fatally injured as a result of the collision. His body has been removed from the scene to the mortuary at Naas General Hospital.
In an update on Sunday afternoon, gardai said the man in his 40s was arrested and is currently being detained at a Garda station in Co Kildare under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
A cordon remains in place as gardaí examine the scene. Local traffic diversions remain in place.
Investigating gardaí continue to appeal for witnesses. In addition, they are particularly appealing to those with camera footage, including dash-cam, from the Prosperous, Allenwood, Carbury, and Robertstown areas between 11:30 pm and 3:30 am on 10th November, to come forward.
