The weekly DAFM throughput for the week ending November 10 was 68,331, including 1,897 sows, which was 13,082 more than last week and 527 less than in the corresponding week in 2023.

The Irish pig price remained unchanged last Friday, with producers reporting quotes between €2.08 and €2.12/kg from processors in the Republic of Ireland (ROI). 

In the UK, the Standard Pig Price (SPP) reported by AHDB is currently £2.036/kg (€2.44/kg), while the All Pig Price (APP), representing the average for all pigs, is £2.06/kg (€2.47/kg).

The EU average price for week 44 for Grade E carcass stands at €1.94/kg (excluding VAT), showing a 4% decline over the past month and an 8.4% decrease from last year’s same-week average.

In the US, the USDA's latest forecast for the 2025/26 season shows a slight increase in corn planting to 37.2 million hectares from 36.7 million hectares this year, while wheat and soybean areas are predicted to decrease slightly.
