More than 680 candidates are running in the upcoming general election for the Dáil, spread across Ireland's 43 constituencies.

Nominations closed over the weekend, and returning officers have now published the full list of candidates.

Fianna Fáil is fielding the most candidates at 82, followed by Fine Gael with 80 and Sinn Féin with 71. None of the three main parties will have enough candidates to secure a majority on their own.

A record 246 women are running this year, marking a 53% increase compared to 2020. Despite this progress, women made up just 23% of the outgoing Dáil, with only 37 female TDs out of 160.

The Louth constituency has the highest number of candidates at 24, while the smallest slate is in Wicklow-Wexford, with 10 people contesting.
