Investigation after man found with serious 'unexplained' injuries in West Cork

An investigation is underway after a man was discovered with serious "unexplained" injuries in West Cork.
The man was homeless and had been staying in a tent outside Clonakilty town on the road towards Inchydoney beach.
Gardaí were alerted at around 10.30pm on Wednesday after the man, who is in his 40s, was found unresponsive with unexplained injuries on Inchydoney Road.
He was extremely cold and was suffering from hypothermia when he was found on Wednesday night.
He had also suffered some bruising around his face and eye area.
He was subsequently brought to Cork University Hospital for treatment. His condition is understood to be critical.
The injured man is originally from Eastern Europe but had been living in the Clonakilty area for some time.
He had been living in the tent with another man who was also at the scene.
Gardaí are investigating the incident and are appealing to the public for witnesses.
They are particularly interested in dashcam or mobile phone footage from the Youghals area of Inchydoney Road between Friday, November 22, and Wednesday morning, November 27.
