Sparkle, sparkle: Nine ways to wear sequins this Christmas

Oh, night divine! The party season is officially in full swing.

Prepare for dancing, prancing and mistletoe romancing, but mostly, prepare to look the part. That can only mean one thing—seasonally endorsed sequins.

But wait a second. What if I have to go straight from my kiddo’s nativity play to work meetings and then the office party—with no time to change?

Don’t get your tinsel in a tangle; simply adjust your yuletide quotient to scale. Start with a sequin bag-a winner with everyone’s favourite ‘jeans and a nice top’ formula.

A sequin-embroidered sweatshirt (Essentiel Antwerp has a colourful selection) also nails the high-low look with leather trousers and sneakers.

Like a good cost-per-wear? Bit of a social butterfly? Graduate to a multitasker like the ‘Lila’ panelled shirt dress from Never Fully Dressed.

Wear open or semi-buttoned over a top and trousers, layer over tonal sequin flares or be one-and-done with metallic heels and a minaudiere bag. Problem solved.

However, should the festive spirit move you to make a statement, what better way than with an oversized sequin blazer?

Of course, the ubiquitous sequin skirt is always a scene-stealer, especially in large rectangular paillettes, as seen at M&S.

Personally, I’d love to splurge on a sequin dress, but my social life tells me pyjama-style co-ords are the better bet. After all, who doesn’t like a silent night in?
