Club football referees are to be invited to their respective counties’ first Allianz League games to see the new rules in action.

As part of an information blitz ahead of the Football Review Committee (FRC) experimental changes officially coming into force on January 25, match officials will be guests at games either that or the following weekend to sample them ahead of the club league season. Counties have until March 31 to implement the alterations at club level.

Webinars are also to be recorded and made available to referees and umpires, while the national referees panel meet with the FRC last Friday to discuss the operation of the new rules.

Provincial training days for the inter-county match officials, the support panel and umpires commence this week with club referees receiving the same education in early January. Both inter-county and club referees and umpires are to undertake an e-learning course, which is in a questions and answers format.

A webinar on the rule changes will take place on December 17, a day after a similar event is organised for coaches. On January 11, a national referees training day will be held and it will be accompanied by subsequent online meetings ahead of the first round of the league at the end of the month.
