Munster GAA chiefs on Monday announced funding of €1.3million for club capital development projects in the province.

Cork clubs received €404,748, shared between 26 applications; Limerick got €254,767 between 22 clubs, 15 Kerry clubs are awarded a total of €170,071 between them; €230,521 goes to Clare - shared amongst 19 applications; Waterford's eight successful applicants get €67,400; while some €225,013 is allocated to Tipperary with 19 clubs successful applications.

Said Munster GAA Chairman Ger Ryan: “I am delighted to announce the awarding of over €1.3m in grants supporting 96 development projects throughout Munster.  These grants have supported an impressive range of capital development projects, with clubs investing over €10m in upgrading their facilities. This level of expenditure is testament to the strength of the GAA in the province and reflects the impressive vision of our clubs to continually improve facilities for players and supporters alike.

“The grants provided would not be possible without the great support we get from the many thousands of people who attend our games each year. We are very fortunate to have such loyal support in the province, and we are delighted to be able to redistribute income from games to the clubs”

The Council agreed a budget of €1,362,520 for the grant scheme. €1,000,500 is donated by Central Council and the remaining €362,020 is contributed by the Munster Council.

The funds category allocation covers land purchase, dressing room and gym developments, refurbishment of handball courts and pitch development, floodlighting & hurling wall developments.
