Irish Examiner journalist Emer Walsh wins Smurfit Business Award

business reporter Emer Walsh has been named Upcoming Journalist of the Year at the Smurfit Business Awards held in Dublin yesterday.
Ms Walsh was one of eight journalists honoured at the event in a range of categories.
Emer's shortlisted work included her interview with IDA chief Michael Lohan, an article on how the Gaza war put Ireland's investments in the Occupied Territories under the spotlight, and her feature on the enduring popularity of gold as an investment commodity.
The awards, sponsored by Bank of Ireland, recognise excellence in Irish business journalism across the media spectrum. The honours were delivered in conjunction with the Business Journalists Association of Ireland.

The other award winners were: Charlie Weston of the for Business Story of the Year; Conall Ó Móráin, The Media Group for Audio Story of the Year; Jon Ihle of for Business Feature of the Year; Eoin Burke-Kennedy of was named Business Analyst of the Year; Thomas Hubert of won Business Interview of the Year, and Catherine Sanz won the Women in Business Journalism Award.
An Outstanding Achievement Award was presented to Brian Carey of Ireland for his contribution to journalism.
