Stashes of drugs with a combined value of over €100,000 were uncovered in the search of a house in Carrigaline and on Thursday a 27-year-old man was brought to court on drug-dealing charges.
Garda Bryan English and Garda Emmet Long carried out the search under warrant on Tuesday, December 3, and brought Graham Bowdren of Heatherfield, Carrigaline, County Cork, before Cork District Court on Thursday.
He was charged with having cocaine and cannabis for his own use and having both drugs for the purpose of sale or supply at his home in Carrigaline on December 3. While these were the charges brought against the man there was evidence of other drugs being seized also.
Garda English objected to bail being granted to the accused and referred to the seriousness of the evidence against Graham Bowdren.
He testified that the Togher divisional drugs unit of An Garda Síochána obtained a warrant to search the defendant’s house. When gardaí called, the defendant was present.
It was alleged that there was one stash of cocaine with a street value of €69,500, another with a value of €25,000, and another worth €2,000 together with ketamine valued €5,400, and ecstasy (MDMA) valued €2,000.
Garda English said all of these were found in the defendant’s bedroom. Graham Bowdren showed the officers another quantity of drugs in the form of €1,800 worth of cannabis in a shed at the rear of the property.
Eddie Burke, solicitor, suggested that the accused co-operated with gardaí but disagreed with the garda view in relation to the quantities of cocaine, claiming that a lot of it is the mixing agent, creatine.
Mr Burke applied for the accused to be released on bail on conditions.
Judge Treasa Kelly acceded to this application. She remanded Graham Bowdren in custody with consent to bail to appear again at Cork District Court on December 10, on his own bond of €500 and an independent surety of €5,000 to be approved by the court.
He must be contactable by gardaí by phone at all times, keep an 11pm to 6am curfew, surrender his passport and sign daily at Togher garda station.
