Cork man accused of having cannabis for sale or supply

Boris Ivanov is accused of having cannabis for sale at a premises on Barrack Street, Cork,
The Director of Public Prosecutions has directed that the case against a 30-year-old man accused of having cannabis for sale at a premises on Barrack Street, Cork, should be heard by judge and jury.
Boris Ivanov, with an address at Barrack Street, Cork, appeared at Cork District Court where Sergeant Gearóid Davis gave the DPP directions.
They are for trial by indictment at Cork Circuit Criminal Court. The DPP also consented to a plea of guilty being entered at Cork District Court and then sent forward for sentencing at the circuit court.
The first charge states that he was in possession of cannabis on February 15, 2023. The second charge is of having the illegal drug for sale or supply to others. The third count is of money laundering where he was allegedly in possession of cash, the proceeds of criminal activity, on the same date.
Shane Collins-Daly solicitor said directions from the DPP had been awaited for a long time and that he would now need to consult with Mr Ivanov to decide if a plea of guilty or not guilty would be entered by the defendant.
In those circumstances Judge Mary Dorgan adjourned the case until January 22.
The three charges against Mr Ivanov were brought against him by Garda Darren Twomey. None of the allegations that gave rise to the prosecution were outlined in court.
